Gurmeet Kaur lives in Asarpur village and is a waste collector. She wants to make her village the cleanest in the state, and set it up like an example. That’s her first thought when she wakes up in the morning. That’s the last thought when she goes to sleep at the night.
Every morning she goes around her village with her green-colored cart collecting dry and wet waste. She makes it a point to spread awareness along the way, by talking to villagers and educating them about cleanliness, waste segregation, and proper waste disposal.
She has been with RoundGlass Foundation’s Waste Management initiative for a few years now. Her efforts have borne fruits. These days one rarely sees a plastic bag or garbage littered in Asarpur.
Not only does she look after the cleanliness of her village like it was her own home, she ensures everyone else does too. This dedication towards her job and her village are unmatched.
